  • VRayEdgeTex Problem in Sketchup.

Hi. I have a problem with V-ray Edges map. when I render my scene, all edges (hidden/subdivision) shows in rendered image. Is there a way to avoid that?

There is an option that you can enable/disable hidden geometry in edge tex material settings..

      Thanks Kenan for your reply.
In the screenshot above both "Show hidden edges" and "Show subdivision edges" are disabled by default. But all edges rendered as you can see. Any other solution?

The Edges texture results rely on the associated geometry. Could you please send the project file over at support@chaosgroup.com and describe how you've created the pad in order to provide you with a proper solution?

        Kind regards,
        Peter

I think there is no solution, or I did not find one yet. Thanks guys.

P.S: Support team did not respond yet, I guess they didn't see my email

                    Hello,

The reason for your trouble stems from a confusion of what constitutes a hidden edge in SketchUp. Soft edges may not appear in the SketchUp viewport but that does not mean they are hidden.
To produce the desired effect using Edges Texture in V-Ray, you would need to select all softened edges in an object either manually or via a 3rd-party plugin and then hide them.
For example, if you use Selection Toys by ThomThom (https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/c...selection-toys) , simply triple-click on a group object then right-click and choose Select Only > Soft Edges and then hide them.

After some consideration it was decided we will not pursue a solution on our side. There is no issue on V-Ray's side. The required geometry changes are best to be handled individually by users as there are too many edge cases to account for.

                    Kind regards,
                    Peter
