  • Sun/Shadow animation gives different results in Rhino preview vs Vray render

I try to render a sun animation (shadow study) using V-Ray for Rhinoceros 5 3.60.03. But I have the issue that the Sun Position/Time in the Preview window in Rhino doesn't match with the Sun position (and thus shadow) in the Vray render. I attached a printscreen and as you can see the values are the same. Any advice what is causing this? For the animation I use the SetOneDaySunAnimation command in Rhino and use these values in Vray Animation. So these are different when I don't render with animated turned on, and just use the Sun Date and Time and Location settings in Rhino itself

Hello, and apologies for the late reply!
V-Ray works with the animation data produced by Rhino itself. If there is a discrepancy between the sun positions in the Rhino viewport and the animation frame at the same time of day, then this is an issue on Rhino side. You can use _ViewLastFrame to compare shadows.
V-Ray will match either of the sun positions depending on whether the V-Ray Asset Editor's Animation toggle is enabled or not.

    Kind regards,
    Peter
