Sometimes, when I delete a Rhino objects, a material asset actually gets deleted from the list. Pretty annoying, since you hardly notice. Can assets be somewhat "locked"?

it's currently possible to just select an asset in the asset list, hit delete, and it's gone. No warning, or cautionary pop up window. An "undo" in Rhino doesn't bring it back either.
IMO, a delete of assets should be only possible by clicking the delete icon at the bottom. (or some other very intentional action, like selecting from a list at right clicking)
I suppose that when I'm working on my model while the asset editor is open, and the mouse happens to move over the asset editor by chance while I hit delete, this happens.
(I can't give a precise scenario, as it happens inadvertently, in the midst of lots of other actions. By the time I realize it was deleted I don't know what sequence of actions I was exactly doing..But my description above seems like a recipe for trouble anyway...)

The "Delete" keyboard shortcut was introduced together with a few others in V-Ray Next for Rhino. They are meant to speed up simple asset actions.https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...Editor-Buttons
Introducing a warning pop-up window on asset deletion/purging is an idea which has been discussed internally before, but no final decision is made yet. I have added this forum thread to the dev notes. They will be taken in consideration when the team proceeds with this topic.
Please let us know if there are any other changes you would like to see happen in regards to the V-Ray UI.

One other thing I've had issues with was the difference and function of the two arrows at the bottom:
- "select previous asset"
- "up in asset list"
Since I might have a different way of hierarchy (vertical / horizontal) in my head as the developers intended, "left" or "up" directions are not necessarily understood. Me for instance, I erroneously used the left button to try and go "back" to the higher hierarchy. And while my eyes were focused on the right roll-out with the asset's settings (bitmaps etc), another asset was being selected in the main asset list. Subsequent changes I made to the asset's settings were as a consequence made to the wrong asset.
One thing that might make it easier to know which part of the editor the arrow navigates, would be to place it right below it.
