Building a rendermachine/workstation. Help?

Hello,

I was wondering how important the graphic card would be if the machine is going to be a renderbox as opposed to a workstation - Someone suggested I pick up a box with a cheap $99 GFX card or should I strike a balance and get a mid-range gfx card. Current specs on the box is:

Video card has zero impact on rendering performance

my rendering time increased by about 3 seconds when I upgraded mine. Probably just from information transfer, but yeah, pretty much 0 impact overall on rendering.
