hi all ...please for 3ds max .

vray : 1- is the refract map must be black/white map or color one and IOR is 1.1 .
2- is the reflect map must be black/white map or color one .
3- what about the fog color what should i use .
4- how mush thickness i should use .
5- should i use shell modifier or not .
6- what kind of light should i use the vray plane or default omni, spot, directional.
    7- should i use GL
and about the eye should i use too spheres one is transparent and the inner one with reflect map and which part of the eye sould be more reflecty

about the shadows what should i use .

try a glossy map or a translucent map to drive the amount of SSS.

Try this thread for a start:
      http://www.chaoticdimension.com/foru...pic.php?t=9240

as for the thickness, it depends on the scale. If you decrease the thickness, the effect will be less deep. The easiest is to make a wedged shape and make some test renderings to determine the right thickness.

I advise you to use false colors for testing, so you can better see the effect of each setting (transparent/translucent/fog)

you can use any light, but without area shadows it will render faster

      what is GL?

SSS works only with GI enabled
as for shadows, read my post again

BTW: translucent color should not be white

Save the image I posted, open it in max and pick the colors. you will see the refract color is not RGB 0 0 0
