  • I know this may be a longshot but...

Scanline developed plugins for Vray called Fogline and OceanLine and an implicit micro confinement system. Just wondering if anything like these would be released with 1.5... *wishing upon a star*

more or less. i dont think those were in any way developed for the vray team. its like a mental ray user wishing that mental ray would ship with all the cool shaders that ILM programmers have programmed for use on their films. there honestly isnt any harm in wishing though. would be nice if a scaneline representive who comes on this forum would make himself known and maybe share some insights on their products and possibly even if chaos gave permission maybe scaneline could sell vray certified plugins. would probably be a mix of atmospheric plugins, modifyer plugins, maybe object plugins and material plugins

Though I doubt something like this would be immediately included in VRay it's good to have hopes. Other packages like Softimage and Mentalray were gradually expanded by companies like ILM eventually allowing the primary software developers to include aspects of their custom development. Think about what Blur has done for 3DSMax and how it added to their credibility in the community. We wouldn't even have a basic raytracing engine in Max if it weren't for Blur.

Yeah, the guys at blur get so much respect from me. They share a lot of things they produce to make max use more fun and interesting, and they also share these innovational programs they come up with to reshape how you work and render in max. Well, their raytrace engine was ok till I found mentalray brazil and of course Vray <3. But, their mateirals and tools are still things I love using. I can only hope some of these companies like scanline will release even some simpler versions of what theyve come up with just to up the bar on what beginners can accomplish with a chunk of modeling software and an array of free plugins.

One thing worth mentioning about Brazil r/s tho is that Splutterfish, the company developing it, is founded by some of Blurs finest. Thats why Brazil was for long, if not even to this date, the best intergrated render plugin for 3ds max. Blur sure know their way around max and I was really pleased to see them finally get some larger mainstream acknolegement by being nominated for the best animated short at this years Academy Awards. Yay Blur!
