  • Ice Cream Shader

    Hi

Im trying to set up a realistic ice cream material in VRay - does anyone have any tips? Im guessing SSS is the way to go?

    Many thanks!

SSS, or scatterVolume (which is the most accurate, but also slightly more difficult to set up.).
Either way, they end up inside a blend shader as base, and then you can add the GGX specular reflections on top (using a standard V-Ray material).

The more your geometry will be accurate, the subtler the results will look (i.e. use displacement or a highly detailed mesh, instead of bump/normals, and so on.)

Just finished setting up my scene with your approach - looks SO much more realistic now!
