Hi everyone and chaos group,
I was very happy to hear that Vray 5 now supports Clear Coat and already had some fun playing around with it.
I have some questions and I would be super happy if a developer from the company could answer these.
The reason I ask is because I had next to no success simulating for example a water layer on top of stones which should have made the stones appear much darker and more saturated.
... 7 samples calculated with clear coat and 3 calculated with no clear coat or is something else happening?
Again would be great if you could answer, so that I know how much I have to fake some effects by myself.
Thanks,
Marcus

- Does the IOR of the Clear Coat change the reflection IOR of the Base Layer like it should?
- Is the total reflection amount of each clear coat pixel (all reflected light from the clear coat from every angle) subtracted from all the light hitting the base that would hit it when there wouldn´t be any clear coat layer at all?
