  • white dots

    Hi
Why do the white dots appear?
I tried everything, with and without max ray intensity, with and without subpixel and clump.
    Can't get rid of it.
    vray 3.6
The camera is Max's physical camera
    Thanks

Looks like two separate things to me. Some of those boxy things with dots in the middle look like denoiser issues. I get those too on shots that have super brights / saturation areas the renderer didn't like. The white grainy bits for sure look like a specular hit with a very high value that wasn't smoothed out in the motion blur.

      Hi.
Thanks for your answer, you are absolutely right about specular with a very high value.
Is there a way to deal with this using the vray settings and without changing the material itself?
      Thanks.

There are a few threads that deal with the smoothing out of super whites and motion blur on the forums. I dont have the links to hand right now. Some of them seemed to use clamping, some used very high min/max sampling values. Personally I think if you dont need the super white values its easier to tonemap in render or set the clamp value to around 1.0. You wont get values above 1.0 to use in post, but you should get a clean render.

As seandunderdale has mentioned, there definitely few threads about it laying around the forum. One of them was very comprehensive and led by ^Lele^ maybe he would able to link it for you.

I think I've found it (sorry, I thought it would be harder).

                Thanks.
In the meantime I switched to vray 5 and the whole game has changed for the better (so I hope)
