Phoenix FD Smoke taking a long time to render

I have a simple 1080p scene that without smoke is very fast to render but when i add phoenix fd smoke it takes forever. From about 15 minutes without smoke, to 2 hours with smoke, and this isn't even noise free.

I have to turn the noise threshold to about 10 and the min shading to 20 to get anything faster but then eveything else is noisey. Are there some seperate settings i can use for the smoke to make it faster?

AMD 3970X 32core threadripper.

Nvidia 2080TI

128gb ram

1tb SSD
