  • Speed up Ply2vrmesh

I often convert OBJ files (from Zbrush) with tens of millions to hundreds of millions of polygons to vrmesh.

The figure shows that it took 26 minutes to convert a 43 million polygon OBJ to vrmesh on a Core i7 3.40Ghz machine.

Is there a way to speed up Ply2vrmesh?
I can let Ply2vrmesh consume memory.

There should be ways to speed it up, yes. Do you think you can send me some test .OBJ to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that we can experiement with it and see what kind of improvements we get?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

download a sample OBJ model here.
      https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f3Z...nBrsXORd9qYIV/

The sample model of ZBrush has 40 million polygons. (Not an interesting model)

ZBrush frequently generates models with more polygons than this.
Also, every time there is a change in the model, it needs to be converted to vrmesh.

If the conversion from OBJ to vrmesh is fast, V-Ray will make rendering ZBrush models much easier.

      Best wishes,
