  • Caustics - Only with standard lights?

    Hi.

I´m making some tests with caustics, and only spotlights and direct lights appear to cast caustics. Area lights cast caustics with a lot of noise (horrible).
And photometric ligths no caustics at all.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks!
    Guido.

direct lights are generally the best to use, cause it concentrates the caustics subdivs, where as a Vray light casts light everywhere so you need a much higher caustics subdivs multiplyer to get comparible results.
As for photometric im not sure why they dont work. I will see if i can get them to work.

I generally light a scene as needed then use direct lights for the caustics and make them only affect the caustics (i.e. turn of diffuse and specular for the light)
