I am having trouble finding the V-Ray material converter that I see videos online about. But I can not find it in V-Ray 5 for C4D. Is this available?

It may be obvious to most, but do you have any more details to share about it?

I am sorry. Here are some posts mentioning the feature like it is a plug in.

I found a mention here that it may have been deactivated.

Here is a video of the V-Ray feature in another application

I am not finding exactly where I saw it but this video mentions it but it isn't really clear. Not to mention an old version of VRay

It looks like you could access the feature through the V-Ray Bridge.
I am new to using V-Ray in C4D. Just made the switch to C4D recently. For all I know I am asking about a feature that has been long gone.

Those things are either from the old developer of the plugin, or don't do what the author says (the Max "conversion" isn't a conversion, it's a replacement of the defaults.).
Take a look here for the set of features which are directly or indirectly (via baking) supported inside of C4D, along with those which aren't.
You could also try the integrated scene converter on older V-Ray (i.e. 3.x) scenes.Lele
