  • VRay 5 Lens Effect - there is no Bloom Glare Material/Object ID

with the previous VRay, we had the option under the Lens Effect to choose an object or material id so you can control the object or material to apply the effect. It's been removed from the vray 5.
How can I achieve this with the new vray 5? Any thoughts pls?

    Hello radiuoz

When you turn on lens efffects, a Glare Render Element is created. Then you can setup a composite and use a mask for your objects or materials, see below

Hi Muhammed, appreciate very much your solution for the object/material ID.
However, I find it quite complicated and hard for me to understand how you got the /Source: Composite/Glare. I spent some time trying trial and error.
Also, I ran through the Chaos documentation which wasn't described enough for my level of understanding

I had no luck finding a tutorial for this setup.
Anyway, Thanks again for your time

I'm going to make a video on this and tag you here, once you understand how this works, you will appreciate this layer-based system, it is very powerful
And I will look into docs and see if this can be improved.

        Best,
        Muhammed

          That would be fantastic Muhammed!

I found this doc but I'm stuck in the sense of where and how to get the mask types: Integer Mask, MultiMatte Mask, and Cryptomatte Mask. When I go right-click the Layer I can only see the inactive (greyed) Mask types.

          Thanks in advance!

            Hello again radiuoz

I explain the workflow in this video

Will ask about using masks directly on the lens effects layer, and update you.

            Best,
            Muhammed

Wow wow. Thanks, Muhammed for the tutorial. It's very kind of you to do this! The video is well explained. Without this tutorial, I would never find how to do this. It was pretty straightforward adding mat/obj ids to Lens Effect with the previous version of Vray. God knows why that function has been removed.
Thank you so much again. And I like your interior scene. Nice lighting!
