  • New V-ray - any soon?

I am Vray/Phoenix FD user for years and I love these. I would like to upgrade my Vray Next to version 5 but are there any plans to launch Vray 6 soon? I am not sure if I should upgrade the Vray now or to wait until the next version is launched (if that is soon?) Can You answer, please?
    Thank You!

makes no difference either way, it will cost you the same as the way they do things now is to not punish early adporters. Meaning, you will need to pay double to go from next to 6 (whenever that comes out). Since you will essentially be paying for 5, even if you skip it.

That is how it worked for people going from 3 to 5 anyway and skipping next. So far I havent seen any indication that things will be different in the future

That being said, they may choose to have some kind of special deal right at launch, but nobody knows when that will be

      Thank You Morne,
I am not sure if I understand correctly. If now the version 6 showed up and I would like to upgrade straight to 6 (from Next) I would need to pay per version 5 also anyway?

if you factor in getting all the benefits of using fairly current version yearly subscription just makes sense. but I do understand the reluctance.

          Thanks a lot Marcin.
I didn't know about yearly subscription. Now when checked that it seems to be a really good deal. I have perpetual licenses for Vray and Phoenix and as far as I understand they will remain active even if the subscription ends and won't be renewed. The price per "Collection" subscription is really good.

Honestly I hope it won't happen any time soon. There is plenty of space for improvement in the current version.

Our plan is to add even more value to the Collection pack, so in the future you'll get more for the same price.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

It is like license plates on a car. You can park a car for 10 years, and will have to pay every year to bring them current. I have always thought that was dumb, and I am surprised to see it made it to software.
