  • Animation & Lens effects

    Hi all,

I'm currently working up lots of shots for an animation project, and whilst I personally love the look of the VRay Lens Effects there is every chance the client may say "get rid of the glare" at some point, having already rendered it all out (via Chaos Cloud).

How do I go about setting up the Vray lens effects in such a way that they aren't baked into the beauty pass, but allow me to add them in post? Is this supported, and will it work on Chaos Cloud?

If you have them as seperate render element, you can just subtract them from the beauty in post

    Kind Regards,

That'll leave weird artefacts where the glares were though?

I assume there is no way to save the glare without affecting the RGB/Beauty pass then???

Make sure you enable the "Create effectsResult channel" in the Lens Effect, then subtraction should work fine. If you're working in 32 bit in PS (or AE or Fusion or Nuke) then it looks like like so

I've also included the 2 exr's for you to try your end

Make sure you use the effectsResult RGB to subtract from, and not the OrigRGB.....

            Ah excellent!

The issue was because I wasn't saving as 32BPC. I assume this is what chaos cloud saves out to?
