  • first attempt at Vray

I'm at the very beginning with Vray. I have followed a couple tutorials and now trying something on my own using all the same settings. Unfortunately, after an hour and half I get this result. What is going on here?!? I used a white vray material for everything except the fridge and oven.....there I made a steel vray material with reflection. There are only two lights....the sun, which is a standard light and a vray light placed in the window and door opening. I am hoping to not learn Vray the way I had to learn radiosity in Max........try, try, try, and try. I hope to receive some input to guide me. I have posted the image and the settings that I used. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will now do another tutorial. Thanks![img][/img] Can I not submit an image here?

OK...I checked out another tutorial and got things working better now. A couple questions though. What are these black splotches on the back of the chairs, along the edge of the glass table, and on the ceiling fan? How can I make glass with a vray material? I had to do the transparency with Max properties. And, is there a way to minimize the color bleed? The walls are actually white. I understand some bleed...but here it seems to be too much. Here are the images:

Not sure on the black blotches, could be that your maximum transparency depth needs to be increased, or you could be having problems if you're trying to use raytraced materials.

For glass with vray mat, try setting your refraction and reflection both almost to white (grayscale is an aproximation of percentage values, black being 0.0 and white being 1.0) and set the Index of Refraction to about 1.6
