I have modded two cards so far, works a treat, if you dont know SMD soldering skills then take your card to an electronics store and some guy there can probably do it for you for 50bucks. Or probably a guy at a high end audio store would have the skills etc.

The resistors you have to move are REALLLY small.. its pretty tricky (but not that tricky

You could afford to fry 10x 6800gt's and if even only one works it would still be value! :P (not that you would fry any probably unless your really useless, in which case get someone with skills in SMD soldering to do it!)

Of course you have less ram than a real quatro, but its a HEAP fast in the viewports, you'll be well impressed! Im looking forward to the 7800gtx to fx4500 mod which will no doubt be possible.

here is some easy ati mods, for ATi 9500 = firegl z1
9600 = firegl t2
and 9700 = firegl x1
and of course the 9800pro = firegl x2

These mods are all soft mods, its simply a hacked driver! how easy is that!?

these cards have better colour quality than nividia, but nothing is better for pushing polygons in max than the 6800gt modded to the fx4000.

I'll update this thread when mods come out for the 7800gtx and x800 or newer cards
