V ray doesn't work?

I dl/ed a free version for max 7...
1st of all the installer loks for max 6 and it says all over the place max 6...
i did install it onto max 7 load up the render but after that i click on the RENDER tab and i don't see any v ray rollouts besides the About section...
Even thou i see the section i click on it to open and it's not working... can't even open about section.
So then i installed that downloaded free max 7 verion to max 6...
same story...
downloaded free max 6 verion of vray... installed same thing...
how can i get my hands on vray? cause i been trying vertualy evrething...

did you try to change the renderer to vray in the "current renderer" section?

I just instaled it and then went to F10 and "Assign Render"
and for production i changed it to VRay free 1.09.03n
