Basicaly programs are limited to 2GB in actuallity they crash somewhere beteen 1.6 Gb and 2GB, the switch will allow programs to use up to 3GB (or arround 2.8GB) here is how to set it up http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...598a92.xml.asp I don't use the userva switch.

Make sure you copy the original line and add /3GB to the copy, this way you'll have a choice to boot without it if there are any issues.

    like:
    Code:
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Enterprise" /fastdetect

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Enterprise" /fastdetect /3GB

yes u usually can. Be sure to monitor your performance when switching. With 3GB switch our viewport-performance is below software mode in 3dMax. While it flies without. Rendering is faster and capable of rendering more complex scenes WITH it tho...so we are switching. you can also add an additional line to the bootmanager to be able to select wich mode you want during boot.
