    Hi all

    Is it possible with Vray to calculate and render only the scene materials which are reflective? I'm wanting to add reflections to a scene without re-rendering the image in the vray g-buffer. A similar feature is available with Brazil as a pass control.

    i might be wrong. but turning off everything except reflections in the Global switches should do the trick...dunno for sure tho...experts ?

      you could just use the g-buffer render elements and click to turn on reflection

        yoop, but dont forget to turn on save g-buffer elements in the vrfb settings and to put a path to save the results to.

          Thanks for the replies.

          I need to test instinct's suggestion however i would have thought vray would still render the basic scene except without shadows, displacement etc.. thanks though.

          The problem with the g-buffer facility is that it requires a render of the image before it can save an individual reflection element. i require a separate render of the reflections - ideally the same as Brazil's render pass control where just the reflection is calculated, rendered and saved with an alpha channel.

          Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

            isnt everything requried to be included to get the correct reflections ?

              I have a solution.. unfortunately it's a work around and possibily quite time consuming. I have being hidding the non-reflective elements of the scene from the camera - ideally I would like to automate this process. Thanks again, Mark
