  • Chaos scatter giving different results on Linux VS Windows

As the title says, we are having issues with Chaos Scatter giving different results depending if its rendered on a machine running linux or if it is running on windows. It looks to me like it changes the seed on some of the objects being scattered.

I have included two test renders so you can see what I mean. I can provide the scene if needed.

    Best Regards
    Rickard

Hi, thanks for posting. What host application are you using (for example 3ds Max, Maya or else)? There is a report from our automated tests from V-Ray for Maya about minor differences between Linux and Windows if you are using a density map. Please share a bit more details about your Scatter setup, version of V-Ray and host application. This could be the same issue.

      Hi Vladimir

We use the following software and VRay version:

      Maya 2023.3
      VRay v6.10.00 from May 15 2023

Regarding the scatter setup it is very baisc. I use a simple fractal as a density map. Let me know if you want the exact values used for random scale/rotation etc.

      Best Regards

HI, thanks for confirming. This is the same issue that we have already reported under VMAYA-12303. I will add your thread to it and raise the priority.
