  • Roughness reflection

I noticed my materials weren't coming thru properly so I did a couple quick tests.

I"m getting no reflectiveness with the roughness setup!? I get the expected reflectiveness with the gloss setup, but absolutely nothing with the roughness setup?

This was the settings for the quick test:
    Glossiness setup
    1. Refl = White
    2. Glossiness = 1.0

    Roughness
    1. Refl = Black
    2. Glossiness = 0

Shouldn't the results be the same? I haven't tinkered around for a little while... I've seemed to have forgotten almost everything! Click image for larger version

I've also added a B&W checker into the roughness slot to see if controlling the map amount would show anything, but nothing?

So 'white' now controls the roughness... New to me. Guess it's been that long!

In your first post you can't set the reflection to black when using roughness. It's values don't change whether you're using glossiness or roughness so it should be white for both. The glossiness or roughness values should be correct as shown and should render the same then.

White means reflective, black means no reflection. It doesn't change whether you're using the glossiness or roughness workflow.
