It seems Maxwell is aiming for accuracy rather than performance--you know, for all those people that don't have deadlines. I know not to judge a book by it's cover, but I really wasn't impressed with the renders they showcased. I was interested in their new camera type, much like VRay's, but the render they showed for that was a render of a lens, not a render from their camera. In fact most of the renders looked like previously done renders that were somewhat relevant to the feature they were showcasing. Maybe it's just me, but that seems strange.

I'm going to learn more about Maxwell before I say anything more... This was just the impression I got from reading their new features list.

they are completely different rendering solutions. Each have their up sides and their down sides. It's pretty goofy to try and compare them I think, apples and oranges.

Is that supposed to be a Sigma 12-24? It looks kind of long and thin? I agree, thats a goofy image to use for showing lense capabilities, if anything a faster prime lens would be more appropriate

Near perfect realism? In the hands of a good user, Yes.
Good render times? ... well if you consider the fact its actualy based on light physics... SURE.

        Vray -
