  • Vray future.....

I was wondering what road will vray take in the future, will it go to a more physical state, like maxwell and fryrender...? I mean dielectric mats and reflectance 0 /90 all that crazy stuff.

I wish for vray will have something similar to fryrender, I mean layer rendering, flare and glare (as post), and all of that realtime tonemapping and layering...also having emmiters materials like maxwell where you define watts, just like the real deal, I saw a flash at evermotion where they play with their school scene and start turning on and off layer wooooaaaa that was amazing...never saw something like that ever....

I hope I didnt hurt anybodys feeling by talking about the other renders...just wondering...

As far as materials are concerned, I see little point in complicating the VRayMtl further, except for the addition of more accurate BRDF models (including measured BRDFs). VRayMtl already has built-in support for the Fresnel falloff of dialectric materials and different reflectances based on incidence angle can be achieved quite easily using a falloff map (since neither Maxwell nor FryRender support procedural maps, the falloff feature must be rolled into the main material itself).

With the current V-Ray architecture (based on irradiance caching and light maps) it is not possible to separate lights into layers. This capability might be added as a feature to a new V-Ray GI engine.

Mesh-based lights (whether based on light-emitting materials, or specified in some other way) are planned and will be implemented.

Flare and glow you can largely do in post; whether we will implement this as our own render effect, I am not yet sure, but it has been asked a number of times now, so it may well be coming at some point.

There are also other rendering features that we are working on, that are not present in either maxwell or fryrender

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Thanks for the answer vlado, the fresnel falloff clarify the idea behind reflectance 0/90, new vray gi engine? is this way in the future?, maybe you should´nt tell me more...life without mystery is boring ....thanks for taking the time to answer anyway....
