  • Vray render to texture (baking) textures render black??

    Hello,

I'm trying to bake textures for an environment I'm doing (render to texture). When I render it looks fine in the viewport e.g. camera render in max. When I go to the saved directory and check the file the texture is all black.

Any idea? I'm sure this is some small checkbox hidden away somewhere.

    Thx,.

What file format are you using for the output images? Try changing this and see if it works better.

    Best regards,

I have the exact same problem within 3dsMax. Looks great when it renders, but black when it is saved? I just tried in a new and very simple scene. Any ideas?

I've tried just about anything - at least what i can think of. The baked texture continuous to be black. Looks ok in framebuffer though.

Texture element is VrayCompleteMap, Target Map is Diffuse, output is jpg.
        Render is 1.5RC3, LWF.

When opening the RTT it says MaxScript Plugin Handler Exception
Unable to convert: true to type: Integer - what is this?

I could realy use some help here ....

and if your using rc3 shouldnt you be using the normal part of the forum as a registered vray customer?

We use RC3 because it works very well, and because we have not yet had any reason to update. I forgot to mention, it's on 3dsmax9 - still need to update that one too

The normal part of the forum? I must have missed that one!?

Could it be a bug within RC3?

Usually changing the output image format works (e.g. png instead of .jpg).

Well, i tried png, tga, jpg etc. and i still did not work. Yesterday (and evening) we updated to Max2008 and SP1 - and now it seems to work.

why the long delay on updating to sp1. rc3 had its fair share of problems

First of all, it takes time to update a pipeline. To install on every workstation and every renderslave. We are a small arhitectual firm with small capacity. And allthough our renderfarm ai'nt that big, it's maintained by one person, wich is me, who also has to keep tight within the production. Second it's a risky buisness to update inbetween deadlines. What if the update has some bug ore somehow won't work with previous scenes ore whatever. We also have to consider learning curve. Something changed, do we have to learn new rutines etc.

So all in all it's just not so black and white

Rc3 works very well for us. Actually i can't remember i ever had any problems withi it!?
