Currently you can get the standalone version as part of V-Ray for Maya beta. If you are interested, please email us to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com

      Best regards,

Vlado, can you give me an information if there're a plan for release a VRay standalone version (no part of VRay for Maya)?

I mean a GUI VRay standalone, where we can load a mesh data (OBJ file, or 3ds file, or others mesh data file), then use GUI VRay standalone materials editor for assigns materials and setup cameras and lights for rendering.

I already send email to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com yesterday, but not got any reply. Maybe my email lost on spam folder??? (I pm you my email address)

The standalone version of V-Ray is currently simply a command-line renderer; it does not include a GUI of any kind (except for the VBF). A GUI may be a possibility, but is not a priority right now.

I think the email is here, but it may take some time for the guys to pick it up and reply.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

That VRay standalone command line renderer read a xlm text file or Maya scene file?

Its okay if command line rendered read a xlm text file, because I can write a scripts exporter later or edit type it manually if there're also a documant infomation about file format.

              what's the meaning of VBF?

              Thanks

The file format is a text file, yes. V-Ray for Maya itself can export such a text file from within Maya, but there is no problem to create it yourself. The format is documented in the V-Ray SDK.

VFB is the V-Ray frame buffer - it displays the final rendered image while V-Ray is rendering.

                Best regards,
                Vlado

Hello Vlado, I just downloaded file "vray_demo_08516_maya85_x86.exe" and intalled it on my computer.
But I can not find any help file or info file about the format of file vrscene. Can you give me a link for download VRay SDK document file that have information about vrscene file format?

PS: I need vrscene file format because I dont have Maya.

                    Thanks,
                    Johny

Hello Da_elfm I know VRay standalone is just a renderer.
For 3D I can use trueSpace. MoI3d and Blender.
Maybe I'll write my own exporter for Blender or for trueSpace.

There are people who already worked on an exporter for Blender; better check this out before doubling the effort

                          Best regards,
