Vray for 3dsMAX vs Vray for Sketch-up?

Hello.
Is Vray the same for different programs? Materials, Global Illumination, etc. have the same settings and capabilities?
I know Vray for 3dsMAX and a friend is asking me to teach his friend how to use Vray for Sketch-up.
