I'm experimenting with different rendering systems to see where their strengths lie and rather than trying to learn every system to get the tests right, I'm hoping to work with someone experienced with each application so that results can be obtained quickly. To start I need someone who has decent experience with Vray (it doesn't matter what host application is used - 3DS, Maya, etc.). It shouldn't take longer than an hour or two for someone who knows their way around Vray and the host app.
The intention is basically to create a simple terrain using displacement, initially without atmosphere or even realistic lighting (a simple directional light should be used). Later tests with atmosphere and realistic sunlight may also be useful. Only the landscape itself and possibly the basic sky+sun are necessary - no texturing, no objects.
The landscape should be based on a procedural rather than an image map and in Perlin Noise terms should have around 16-20 octaves of detail, with the camera near ground level to see the finer details, but positioned on a high point so that there is also a long view. I would think this should take someone with moderate Vray experience about 10-15 minutes to setup, and maybe 15 minutes or less to render at a good level of detail. Doing several tests to get closest to a simple reference scene might stretch it out to an hour or two. We're talking about a pretty small investment of time though.
Any help is greatly appreciated and, although I mentioned before I'd rather not pay, I absolutely will (say $50) if it's necessary. I would expect a reasonable amount of revision and experimentation if I were to pay however.
I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place or is inappropriate for the forums, but this seemed like the best place to look for a volunteer.
Thanks!
