            contact chaos group and give them your vray registration information so that the can link it to your forum account and you will get full forum access. i guess your info would be in the package you got with your dongle

                  The Educational Releases also should allow forum access if i am not mistaken. The "Free" Versions dont...for a reason...

                      v-ray

                      I really love the idea of people who buy v-ray getting write access to the forum. It is like a secrete society. The support is the best and the users are topnotch! I think people are fortunate to have read rights if they don't purchase. The kind of information you get here is worth the price of the software itself.

                        Are there versions of vray which are free but with enough options to enable a newbie to put together a decent enough portfolio to land a job?

                          @artani8000:
                          The educational version isn't limited. It can do the same things as a full version.

                          @instinct:
                          My sister bought an educational license but she doesn't visit this forum so I don't know about the access.
                          I have access through my work license.

                          @Jonferimonic:
                          Isn't that what the demo is for?
