  • specific questions before i hopefully buy :)

was nice to find the educational version at a great price, i am now VERY happy.

however i have questions before i take the plunge

firstly i am using FinalToon at uni. it is somethign i need for my big animation, i will be buying that too, i have to ask though, does it work well with the vray render, i heard form somewhere it has trouble.

is there a way to make it work properly.

my final question is about the licence, i will be getting the edu licence from studica, i want to know will i be able to download the service packs for free?, and will updates for 1.6, be (either) free or easily purchasable as an upgrade to my liscence.

hope you can reply so i can hurry up and buy and start having some great fun

From what I know, FinalToon mostly works fine with V-Ray. However, being a render effect, FinalToon has some limitations - e.g. it will not work properly with V-Ray displacement, moblur, dof, and any other V-Ray - specific geometry. However you can probably use the built-in VRayToon in these cases as well.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

That's exactly the same question as I had in this topic!

          Nice, thanks!
I wish more developers would have such a policy.

is vraytoon any good then? never heard of it, is it better than the in house max line renderer?

i probably wont be using advance vray effects and material when i use finaltoon anyway, but i want to find out as much as i can before i go and buy them both as it's a lot of money.

if anyone could explain further about the way the render effect and vray interact so i know exactly what im getting into, i would be VERY GRATEFUL.
