  • Vray, Backburner and Network Rendering

Am having a lot of problems with an upgrade to 3DSMax Design 2009 and installation of vray. The problems occur when trying to network render through Backburner. First the slave machines only rendered black but we thought we solved that problem by sharing the program files folder on the server where the license server was installed. Worked just fine with our test file which contained a few boxes. However now when we try to render one of our regular scenes we are getting unexpected exception errors every time. Everything renders fine within a licensed copy of max. The autodesk people are convinced it's a vray problem because when I did a test with scanline the network rendering worked fine. but I was only trying to render a box then too. when I test just the box over the network with vray it works fine too. help!!

looks like you need the 3d max design 2009 service pack 1 upgrade...
there's some kind of problem with things like the steering wheel and view cube interfering with network rendering...
