    How's the Vray Blender Implementation Going?

  • #3
    Hi Bdancer, really nice stuff.
    So you are the one that's doing the exporter tool?

    Are you part of Chaos Group Team?

    I would really like to buy Vray for Blender, do you think that will possible?

    We are changing from MAX to Blender, we will be saving a lot of money. And the one that does Magic is Vray, not MAX. We could easily sustitute MAX. but never Vray.

    We are movingo to UBUNTU, BricsCAD

    Win = UBUNTU
    Autocad = BricsCAD
    MAX = Blender
    Photoshop = Gimp
    Vray = Vray

    We won't change Vray, Vray is Vray it cannot be Changed and it's fairly Chip comparing to the other Software you have to Buy.

    We will be Saving around 10.000 u$s by Migrating to Open Source.

    So we would like to Buy Vray for Blender.

    When that would be possible?

    Thanks
    Tricota

      It is a question to Chaos Group of when they will release V-Ray Standalone. Standalone is a part of V-Ray For Maya so you could try it now.

      Temporary project URL: http://blender.bevice.net.ru
      You could see some new works there.

        Really nice work!! I think the CG Future is going this way during the next Decade. There will be a really mixture between open and non open source software.

        What i like the most about Blender, is the new MySQL implementation that it will allow many people to draw in the same Scene. That will really increase the workflow and it will really change the way we are used to work as part of a team. Imagine all your workmates building and moving vertices all together in the same scene. That will be the point were all the other modeling software will be running from behind.

        I have a question, is this exporter working both Windows and Linux Plataform?

        If Standalone is out, could you Fullly integrated to Blender?

        you should be part of Chaos Group!!

        Thanks a lot !!! keep doing it!!!

          Interesting, I was thinking about going the same way.
          Can you tell what your experience is with bricscad?
          All I need cad for is converting and a little modifying of delivered Acad drawings, is bricscad capable of reading and writing to dwg?

              Hi jost, BricsCad Works Perfect!! and its just 300 bucks against 4000, Autodesk Prices are Nut.

              BricsCad is dwg Native, it is compatible to Autocad 2009 features 100%. All of them. and have some more.

              Really Recommended, a friend of mine bought 40 License at his Studio. He Saves close to 160.000 dollares in Autocad Licenses. Not Bad at all!!! It's not Open Source but It's Open Design, a quite new concept.

              Take a look at Intellicad, it's the dwg native CAD roots where BricsCAD belongs to.
              Intellicad it's the open design Basement.

              Autocad Should drop Prices a lot and pretty soon, if don't they will loose tons of users to BricsCad.
              Same Thing to 3DMAX, if they do not drop Prices pretty soon, Thousands of users will go to Blender+Vray. It's Cheap, Great and Legal. You only Pay Vray, all the other tools are Free!! Who said Heaven didn't exist? "D

              So when Standalone is out, I could buy a License and use your exporter to Blender.
              Incredible, I hope that happend soon.
              And Bdancer Thanks!!!

              How did you do the exporter without Chaos Help? you are a genius!! Thanks!!

                Ok, I think I've found the info I've been searching for here, but would be very happy to have a confirmation for the following.

                We are planning purchasing V-Ray, since the test renders with Blender / Kubuntu have been very promising. The script works very well, but is has its demo restrictions. There's been some high res renders from blender, but are they rendered in some other system?

                To have unrestricted renders in Linux system, do we have to wait for stand alone, or is the full version working with the script already?

                    Well, technically you can ask for the full beta of V-Ray for Maya, which does not have the demo restrictions.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

                      Yes, I've been in contact with ChaosGroup now and to get unrestricted version, you need to be in the beta program.
