  • Brief list of feature films rendered with VRay

    Hello VRayers!

First of all I want to thank Chaosgroup that this forum has become a so good place to get support for any topic related to VRay.

I'm writing a features and specs sheet of VRay and I would need a list of well known feature films where VRay has been extensively used to render its fx.

No matter if the movie is cartoon, science fiction or whatever... the most important is that VRay has been the software used to render some or all of its shots.

    Thanks in advance.

i think the 1st time it was used for a film i remember was in reign of fire where vray was used on a single shot.

I personally used it to render vector displaced waters (generated with flood:surf) for Oliver's Stone W (one shot only), and for most of the end environments for Dragonball Revolution (some silly amount of geometry in there).
On DB it has also been extensively used for the fulum characters and the lava lake/environments (JRey may chime in with more details here).
I also used it on a couple more projects still under NDA.

V-Ray has been used in a number of feature films so far; I don't know if we have the right to share this information though - we'll have to check.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Thanks a lot for all your quick answers, but of course it was not my intention to ask classified or confidential information as the aim of that question was to get attractive information for V-Ray buyers.

Thanks anyway for all your answers.

I don't think there's any issue in stating the engine used for a particular job, in my case, as long as the job's out in theaters (there were articles on cgtalk stating the usage of Fusion as a comping app for the same job).
Just for safety, though, should this not be the case, wait before posting or publishing those infos, and stay on the generic side of things

                  Thank you again Lele

Of course I will post this information in my V-Ray specs sheet only if it comes from authorized sources but I think that it could be interesting to all of those potential buyers that think that V-Ray is just for architectural previz,...and this is not true as you have showed to us;ยท)
