    This was not about PR.

    In the first place my comment wasn't about PR cause this conversation did not started as that it started about a normal discussions about the merit of a technical term and I mentioned those things in my previous post cause some people over here started to comment about this subject in a way that obviously suggested that I was ignorant and/or stupid and I guarantee you that I'm am neither.

    Earlier in the thread mr. instinct had already been fairly explicit and clear without saying things in such a way but these guys on the other hand took another route and I can read between the lines but I didn't even had to do that cause they were fairly explicit and with most people if they are treated like that in any forum they are going to point it out just like I did.

        Going back to your original post, your problem was with renderers calling themselves real time, right?
        Which ones do this?


        Besides that, I dont think this is a big deal at all. Anyone who does 3d knows exactly what people mean when they say real time rendering - the word 'rendering' at the end is distinction enough between this and actual real time.

          Maybe "RT" does stand for "interactive" officially, who cares. IMO "RT" is definitely meant to suggest the idea of RealTime rendering, otherwise why not call it VRayI, VRayIT, etc. I do think the name is just right though (i.e., VRayRT), it is a real time rendering engine in that I do not need to press "render", it updates the image as I'm modifying setting, materials, etc. Just because it takes a few seconds doesn't change the point that it is updating it in real time and i don't need to "apply" those settings to a new render.

          We know very well that real-time rendering means many frames per second for fluid animation and interactive manipulation and this is not it and by far. Now it is being used to describe a frame that even with GPU acceleration takes at least several seconds to complete and I think that that is inappropriate.
          I know very well that any of the current realtime rendering engines (VRay, FinalRender, Fry...) mean the image is updated when I change the scene and it takes a little while for the image to clear itself. If you could try any of the current games on a system from approx 1999 (say something running a nvidia tnt or tnt2 and DX5) you'd hardly call it real time. Just because at the time, game developers were very cognizant of keeping the poly count, textures, fx, etc down to a minimum in order to maintain acceptable frame rates doesn't make these old systems any more or less "realtime" than the newer ones. For VrayRT, there's no luxury of pruning the scene down or reducing textures (rendering the complex scene is kind of the point) so rendering times and the frame rate will suffer a bit. It's still realtime.

                'Kind of faster than normal but not quite as fast as games but it doesnt matter because it's 3d and you can see the image before it's done anyway renders'

                Or for short, KOFTNBNQAFAGBIDMBI3AYCSTIBIDA renders.

                  It's pretty common to remove the "as", "the", etc's from the acronym and I don't think you should remove the "D" from 3D so I've added it in.... KFTNBNQFGBDMB3DYCSIBDA Renders.

                  Alternatively you can use lower case for the lesser words.... KoFTNbNQaFaGBiDMBi3DaYCStIBiDA renders.

                  Oh yeah, it's still fast though so it should be in italics..... KoFTNbNQaFaGBiDMBi3DaYCStIBiDA renders.
