  • Another Bug - 3D Textures, hit or miss

Sometimes when im using a 3d texture on a vray material it'll render just fine, and the next frame it'll drop buckets randomly across where the 3d texture is applied. One bucket using the 3d texture will render, the one right next to it will just output black, nothing in any of the channels.

Ive tested it happening with the brownian and noise. All the 2d textures work perfectly.

    Thanks

    Josh

Are you using Distributed Rendering? If so make sure all of the nodes can see the textures, this is common.

Yeah actually I was using distributive rendering with our farm blades, but all the nodes would pick up all the textures like a superchamp if i removed the 3d texture from the shading network. As soon as i reconnected it, some buckets (spanned across multiple cpus from the farm) would drop. So I don't think it was related to the textures themselves, but more the procedural texture? Does that sound familiar?

Can you tell me which V-Ray version are you using? I remember something like this being fixed at one point.

        Best regards,

Hey Vlado, thanks for the quick response. We're using:

          V-Ray for Maya version 1.50.00 from May 17 2010, 09:04:06
          V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 1.90.03

          Thanks

Right; in that case, can you get me the scene (or at least a part of it) to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that we can check it out here?

            Best regards,
            Vlado
