  • Make burning logs generate more light?

I made a fireplace fire with 2 logs burning.

GI is turned on, and it is generating light on the objects around it.

I'm wondering what settings I would tweak to make it cast more light into the scene?

    Thanks for your time

Okay, I just found 'emission' in the docs. Looking into it, thanks.

for faster rendering you can use the "additional lights" option, it produces light without using GI, adding omni lights in the scene. the parameters of the lights are calculated before each frame, and there is a multilier that controls their brightnes, without change of the visual appearance of the fire. the lights are added/deleted when the rendering starts and finishes, so you can not see them in the viewport, but their positions are indicated with blue cubes.

        Thanks for the reply, Ivaylo.

My scene is lit with GI, that's the problem with additional lights. I have played with the emission settings but I didn't really notice any difference; I pulled up the points in the curve, also I tried using a pure white vray color in the texture slot and played with the multiply setting. This was with the modulate button turned on. Multiply of 2 or 10 didn't seem to make any difference. So I guess I don't yet understand how the texture modulate works.

As always I am thankful for the advice.

may be i should see the scene, everything you described must affect the light, no idea why it fails.

Thanks Ivaylo, I will continue to work with it and see if it's something I'm doing wrong. If I can isolate the problem in a scene, I will post it.
