  • Absolute transparent material

Hi! I'm trying to make the distortion like in this tutorial:

From the defaults I turn the refract color into white, but material is still reflecting the environment. How to make just REFRACTING material. I hope to get the same result as in the video.

    THANKS!

if refract is white and reflect is black then you should not have a single reflection in the scene

Here is my material parameters, I've just turned refract color into black from the defaults:

Here is the render results. It must only refract the black&white checker from this point of view, but it also reflects the green checker and a little bit of blue:

What's wrong with my tweaks? Please help!

          THANKS IN ADVANCE!

its refracting the green not reflecting it. plus you should ask the forum admins for full status

Okay then, how to make it refracting only the objects that directly behind the refracting geometry (only black checker for this example)?

Every novice should ask the admins for full status? Nice rules! (^_^) "Could u plz give me the full status?" - That's enough? Or I should ask in a different way? (^_^)

the main forum is for any vray customer novice or expert.
in the example you showed its refracting everything in the scene. their checkerboard is both ground and wall. why specifically do you need green background?

I'm trying to make the heat haze distortion from the flame of jets. So if you look at the plane from the top, the heat haze from jets should refract only a ground! It shouldnt refract the sky for instance etc.

If you don't want it to distort so much that it shows the green, then turn down the IOR to closer to 1.0.

I got it! 1.01 is the most appropriate value. THANKS!

                          My haze looks great:

                          BUT!

Eventually I've returned to the very beginning:

                          (T_T)

Is there a way to make the heat haze with Vray normally interacting with other reflecting\refracting materials?

                          THANKS!
