  • UV Pass, Help with Setup.

    Cheers,

Can anyone help me figure out how one would create a UV Pass as a render element in Vray for Maya? I've tried to google to topic but cannot seem to find an answer on this. Apparently the Vray Vertex Color is the key but Im not sure what the setup is. Any help would be appreciated!

Try the sampler info render element - I'm not sure what the method is in maya for adding elements but the sampler info render element in max 1.5 sp5 has the option for a uv pass in it's type options.

Create a VrayExtraTex element and pipe in a standart maya samplerInfo node, connecting uCoord >> vray_texture_extratexR and vCoord >> vray_texture_extratexG. Done.

(Note: There was a bug in this in earlier versions, if i remember correctly - the pass always rendered black. But it works now.)

Ok, so I think I might of come across an issue. I notice from your signature [pechart] you are using a later build then what my facility is using. Should I speak to our sys dept and find out if they could get access to a later build? Maybe this is a vlado question more so...That might be why I cannot connect a sampler info to the VRay Extratex element.

Ok, so were up to date with the feb 8th build and I have trying to figure out how to connect the UV Coords to the VrayExtraTex? There are no options to connect it to vray_texture_extratexR&G...any clues would be appreciated.

Yep, just use the connection editor.
