  • Creating Splash

    Hello,

I need to create a Splash of a big Fish jumping out and into the water. I tried to make it with Blender, the result was slow and looked like glue instead of good water. On top the intergration into 3ds Max was horrible. I tried it with Pflow, but Pflow is useless with the standart Boxes which comes with 3ds Max in my opinion. It was asolutely slow and the result looks like anything but water or splashes!

I asking myself if Phoenix FD can make it and if so, will the result looks absolutely realistic? Do I get some nice flying splash drops and wakes around the hitting points on the water surface?

Or do I need a totally different plugin or program to do it?

    best regards

    Rog!

realflow had a 30 day demo last time i looked.. that will give you what you need, but be warned.. -again last time i looked at it, 30 days was only just enough to learn it and get a good final result!

in the currently available version, phoenix has no splashes, however in less than a month a new version will be available supporting splashes+foam simulation and shader.

        some preliminary results:

Cool solution, but one month is too late I need it this week. I would buy Phoenix FD asap if I could make a solution you showed above. Do you think that could be possible?

              best regards

                Stop filling simulator

By the way, I played a bit with the demo of Pheonix FD.

How is it possible to stop filling the Phoenix FD simulator (Domain) with water at a certain frame? And from this frame on I need to simulate a doplhin mesh jumping out of the water and back into the water. Maybe the recent Fluids are good enough for my splash simulation!

best regards & thanks for helping me!!!

you can fill the container with a geometry source in brush mode, or using a script, like in the pool scene (btw, the splashes above are made with it), or simple with an animated source, like in the paints scene.
about your problem - we need some betatesting anyway, so we can consider to give you a build.

Wow that sounds promising How can I register for betatesting, so that I can get the build as fast as possible to get the job done? The Dolphinproject is set up with Max 2011 and Vray 1.5.

If you need my email or customer details just let me know. And thanks for the help I will check this brush mode!

                    best regards

My viewport hangs if I try to simulate the pool scene. And the setup for the Poolscene seems to be not right, there are few states not set for the Fuel part right?

                          best

i tried it just before the attachment, no idea why this happens. the bad news is that tomorrow i'll be not at work.
the pool scene does not use the fuel, the temperature is used as liquid. before the liquid extension, in phoenix 1.1 the low temperature was the only "solution" for liquids (it makes the gas heavy), and the pool scene was made in this manner. later it was transformed to use the real liquid abilities, but still uses the temperature channel.

The Viewport hangs because of OpenGL, now with Direct X it works, and the Pool scene is great!!
