  • License issue over backburner with Vray for Maya 2 beta

    Hi

I am trying to setup my render machines to render with backburner. I have installed Vray on all render machines, as well as the master. I send through the job from Maya 2011 GUI to backburner. My master machine renders via the backburner server app over the network. However all the other machines turn up with an error saying that they could not find the license.

I have pointed Vray on the render machines to the masters IP, with not luck. Also tried the PC name etc.

Am I missing and installation step or must the license sever be on the render machines also? Please help?

What is the error code when they say that there is no license?

How did you set up the render slaves to use the network license?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi

Thanks for getting back to me.

The error code was "10061". I eventually managed to setup the render slaves by installing Vray on all the render slave machines. With or without the license server didn't seem to make a difference to the renders. I had to point them to the master machines IP address in the primary license server settings on each machine.

I later found that the port numbered 30304 on my master machine wasn't added to the incoming or outgoing rules within my Windows firewall. So the license request was getting blocked resulting in the "could not obtain license" error. After adding the respective rules to the firewall, the renders fired off without a problem and I've been rendering ever since.

I did mention this in another thread but perhaps it would be a good idea to include this procedure either in the installer itself or in the Installation documents.

      I'm running Maya 2011, Vray 2.0 beta on Windows 7 64bit.

Thanks again and I will post any bugs that I find from here on in.
