  • Motion blur doesn't work with Phoenix water

    Hi all,

How do you enable motion blur when simulating water in Phoenix FD? I've tried on a VRay camera where I normally use it, and everything else is motion blurred in the scene (animated boxes around it), but the particles in the fountain are not.

I have also tried motion blur in the cameras tab in the VRay camera tab, but also no success??

Any ideas greatly appreciated, as water without motion blur sux!

    Cheers.

    James.

    export the velocity

Do you mean in the "output" tab Ivaylo? So check the velocity output channel and this bakes motion blur into the final render?

      Thanks!

Yes on the output tab. Without exporting the velocity channel your fluid basically looks to the renderer like a series of still snapshots rather
        than moving liquid.

Great works a treat. Just a little reference to other peeps that find this thread looking for the same thing...

            - Make sure the output "velocity" is check when you run the simulation, then it writes this information to the aur files for each frame as normal.
            - If your simulation looks like a spiky hedgehog don't panic, just uncheck velocity under the preview tab, it's just giving you a preview of those velocities for each particle.
            - If you enable motion blur on your VRay camera (shutter speed say 25, i.e. 1/25 sec) then it'll use this velocity data in the aur file to motion blur the particles.

            Niiice!
