  • Maps, texturing with Vray for Rhino

I have a doubt about what will be possible to do with Vray for Rhino (and decide if I should buy it now, saving 300$, or wait for the 30day trial when the cost will be 700$ !!): how will apply textures, mapping coordinates, ... (the things that, for example, are done with UVW mapping or Unwrap in 3DSMax) ?

If this will not be possible (Rhino itself doesn't support these features) this means I will be able to apply only VRay materials (glass, metal, ...) without any kind of textures ?

vray uses mcneel's render content manager (the same which is used for brazil) to map textures. there are some options, and as it is now it is only a preliminary setup, but i attached a screenshot of what is supported by now.

unfortunately surface-uv doesn't support any tiling by now. i hope mcneel will fix this in future versions.

      texture tiling

Mapping in Rhino is a work in progress, but gaining momentum fast. The main issue is that the viewport display in Rhino3 cannot display tiled textures. This will be fixed in V4, but the core-level mapping tools will support tiling asap.

This screenshot is from the McNeel's RCM not from V-Ray.

Maps, texturing with Vray for Rhino

            hello,

I have a question about texturing objects with a partly transparent textures... let's say you have a organic logo created in photoshop with transparent parts and want to map it on a cylinder. will this be or is this possible with v-ray? can I layer textures this way?
for now v-ray ist almost too good to be true, so make it come true
            ciao,
            martin
