    All-

Curious where you find the best/cheapest (both, or either) 2d people libraries for insertion in your renderings. From the discussion, there are reasonably good libraries at www.got3d.com, but they seem to lack many high or low-angle images, but its very inexpensive ($65 USD) ... www.lowpolygon3d.com has a more exhaustive library in terms of angle of images, but it is far more expensive ($990 USD)...

    Advice?

    Much appreciated.

More expensive than Got3D ($99-149), but the images are good quality.

I second real world imagery, very good quality and the alpha channels are already in the image rather than the way Got3d does it with a separate image for the alpha channel.

2D people are always bad quality, they will never match the lighting of your scene. I would suggest searching for low poly fully textured 3D people.

Today I have tested a free 2D people example of got3d.com - works fine, no outline effect like here:

              http://www.asgvis.com/phpBB2/viewtop...r=asc&start=15

The maps have a big colored area around the edges, so that the halo effect is suppressed.

              Here my quick test:

Hmm, I have tested the free example of the businessman. Vray for Rhino dosn't support "tif" images. Is it in Vray for Max possible to use TIF with alpha maps.

Also, the details of the man texture give me the feeling, the map could be at the half resolution with the same details. Also, there is no integrated "halo" protection.

I do most of my entourage work in Photoshop so having the alpha channel mapped saves me a step. True, I have to pay attention to shadows on the original image a bit more but I'm often working on crowd scenes for stadiums, schools, parks, etc. Trying to do a crowd in 3D typically adds too much time and there's not enough variety with RPC to make it look believable either.

But for a scene that doesn't require too many peeps, RPC is definately the way to go.

Conclusion: RPC isn't available for Rhino. And maps with integrated alpha map are not supported by Vray for Rhino now. Also, if the people/tree map dosn't have a "protection edge" around the cutting alpha edge, Vray produce halo effects. So, if the user like to use 2D textures, than the images from got3d.com seems to be the best way at the moment.

I'm using the 2D People from Got3D. In photoshop I add them to my scene. Works great.
