  • Importing scene materials

    Hi,

I just started using Vray as a pre-release customer. So far I really like what I see.

I would like to know how to import the materials supplied in the C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 3.0\Plug-ins\VRayForRhino\Materials folder. I've managed to create my own materials and to access those from a list, but the premade ones are harder for me to find.

    Cheers,

    Jonas

In the Rhino Material Editor, right-click on the blue 'Default Material' node in the 'Material Workspace' window in the lower left hand corner. Once clicked select 'Import from File', then navigate to the C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 3.0\Plug-ins\VRayForRhino\Materials folder.

          Importing scene materials

          Hi Andy,

Nice seeing you too. I don't think you promised to much. So far I've only tested some GI and HDR rendering and different materials, but I'm truly impressed already. I like the straightforward simplicity of the program.

Actually, I think it's benefiting from not being inside 3ds max. I never did like the max material interface very much.

I'm grateful for the fact that you gave me enough info to make the leap!

          Kind Regards,

          Jonas

exactly my view aswell...everything seems so much clearer in the rhino vray.

once release 1 will be out it will be a better version than implemented in max.
