  • Light and Mapping

    Hi...,

    I have two questions about V-Ray (Beta 12.1) :

    1. Lights

Is this correct that spot light, point light, directional light don't work at the moment. Or have I missed a switch?

    - spot light (doesn't work)
    - point light (doesn't work)
    - directional light (doesn't work)
    - directional light (works, but no soft shadow)
    - rectangular light (works also with softshadow).

    2. Mapping

Does mapping still work. I have also deinstalled Brazil. The Mapping manager from McNeel works, but I miss the mapping in the rendering, see picture

    Thank you,

    Michael

Lights should work without soft shadows (will come later). The problem of your lights could be, that you use a fallof and than you need very high intensity value sometimes.

    Mapping? Hmm, should work.

      Hi Micha,

you are right for the light. The multiplier did the job, but where can I set the falloff?

      Thank you,

      Michael

Point and Spotlight have a decay which controls the falloff.
Directional light is an infinte directional light so falloff is not used
Rectangle light can have decay disabled or enabled

I'm not sure what the problem would be with the mapping though

          Hi Joe,

OK, I understand the decay option. Are there softshadows for spotlights?

          Thank you,

          Michael

            Light and Mapping

There will be in the next release. Vlado has added some new options for all the lights so the users will now be able to
            - Turn shadows on or off for a light
            - Adjust the radius of the shadow
            - Adjust the subdivisions (quality) of the shadow

For the rectangular light only the ability to turn shadows on or off will be available at this time, but all the other lights(Point, Direct, Spot) will have all 3 options.
            Best regards,

Joe, will it be possible to see invisible lights in reflections? And could it be possible to get the visible control for light materials too?

Can't you just hide the object that has a light material on it? As for your other requests post them in the wishlist section so we don't forget to ask if its possible
                Best regards,
