query about vray reflections on flat objects

Hi there,

I have one more query :

here is my rendering :

Now my query is as follows :

In the first image i tried to manupulate the hdri reflection param, and i got that result, and in the second i did something else.

Actully the part's martierl is pure shiny chrome, but i think from the frist image , i am not much satisfied with the reflection, the same material gives me fantastic chrom refelctions on curves surface but not on the flat surfaces

kindly help me on that part.


I am using 3dsmax with vray 1.09

That is very normal, it's exactly the same in real life. Try to photograph a mirror, you know what I mean?

Either model it a bit more curved, or give it not such a perfect mirror material. Add some bump to the surface, or glossiness.

It's nice to V-Ray for 3ds max users here! You say you are using the 1.09 version. Are you using the free version?

ha didn't even see he was using vray for max

If you are, upgrade to 1.47.03, not that it will help your flat reflection problem, but it's better in general. (I hope you CAN upgrade )
