so what exactly causes this. I have noticed it in some of my other tests, but to be honest, i tend to change 50 parameters at once and it eventually goes away.
Now I remember me - I had the problem some weeks befor with my material tutorial too. It helps to change the HDRI or to blur it a little befor use. I'm not sure where the problem is - Vray or HDRI. It would be good, if Joe could find the reason for that problem.
If you could supply me with the scene (all textures too) I might be able to dig up the problem. You can just upload it to ftp://asgvis.com/incoming . Feel free to password protect it if you like - just remember to email it to me so I can unzip it
Micha was almost right on the money. There is no HDRI map being used, just a white color, however when setting the Filter to Mip Mapped and blur to 1 on the background bmp being used the problem went away.
