  • how do i use hdri properly?

    Hi there,
I have just started using V4R and am having some problems understanding how to use hdri properly.
currently i am placing my hdr file in the GI map slot as a bitmap. with GI turned on
this seems to work ok but then if i try using Acolour for a render and then switch back to using the same bitmap as before with all the same settings my render comes out as though i am using a blue light.
is there something i am doing wrong?
    any help much appreciated

It sounds to me as though you are removing your GI map at some point. Our default gi color is a blue - so is it possible your turning off your GI map? Its difficult for me to know without looking at your options.

thats great thanks, I have had some problems as well in that occasionally when i have tried using different hdri files the render progress box reads an error 'invalid light cache sample(s)' and the final render looks as though it has tried to project the image onto the surfaces, am i right in applying the hdr as a bitmap?

Perhaps you could send me a small test scene showing this issue, along with the textures you are using. Please archive them and upload it to ftp://ftp.asgvis.com/incoming. Don't forget to let me know the filename so I know which one to grab. Then if I see what is causing the problem I can let you know what the culprit is.
