  • how to align a texture

    hi everybody!

is it possible to align a texture on a rhino's object after creating a new v-ray's material (2d clipboard) ?
thank you.. i'm a maxwell render user and i've just started with v-ray (it's so fast :P)

Re: how to align a texture

You will need to use some of the mapping features provided by McNeel (actually RCM or RDK) which are available in the object properties box. I believe Micha's material tutorial goes into some detail about how to use some of its features, so I would suggest looking for that one in our tutorial section. I think if you use the Surface projection that should probably make it fit how you want, but try out a few different setups.

V-ray is fast, and its so much better not to wait the better part of a long weekend for a render.

      Hi MCC,

best you use the command _pictureframe for billboards. So you get a plane with right ratio and matching map.

I own Maxwell too, but the Vray speed is unbeatable, and since the new Betas support Detail Enhancement ... ;D

Much agreed on the Detail Enhancement. Its very fast, gives great results, its simple and easy to implement. I never really used it much in max, but now that I've been playing around with it I think its one of the best new Vray features. Its very near QMC quality with speeds similar to IR, and you don't need allot of AA to smooth out the results either.
